One of my xbox controllers always drifts. It’s as if you’re pushing up on the joystick all the time, even if you’re not. I’ve tried all easy troubleshooting steps outlined here, updated the firmware, recalibrated the joystick, blown compressed air into the joystick, and nothing worked. I also opened the controller case, to better clean around the joystick, but no luck there either.
My controller is out of warranty so I figured I might as well try to replace the part on my own.
I found this video that walks you through the process. My soldering skills are not very good, I’ve only soldered one or two times in my life so we’ll see how it goes.
While searching for “Xbox controller replacement parts” I found this page on ifixit. Which walks you through the process step by step, and lists the needed parts.
It looks like the part I need is a Gulikit TMR Joystick, which is currently out of stock on the Canadian iFixit store, but it looks like I can order a similar part from amazon.ca.
